π Meet the Youngest Country on Earth: Uganda
Hi everyone! Today I want to share something sweet (and a little surprising) about Uganda β the country where El Cantare Foundation's students and families live.βΊοΈ
A Few Fun Facts About Uganda
Total population: about 45.9 million people (2024 national census)
And here's the surprising part...
πΆ Half the Population Is Under 18!
That's right β half of all Ugandans are children and teens π§π§βπ
There may honestly be more kids than adults in this country! The median age is just around 18 years old β making Uganda one of the youngest nations on the entire planet β¨
β‘ But Not Everyone Has Electricity Yet
Households with electricity access: 53.4%
Connected to the national grid: 25.3%
Powered by solar: 28.1%
That means nearly half of all households still don't have reliable power. And that includes schools β no electricity means no evening study time, no lights, no charging a single device π‘
π So Here's Why It Matters
A country this young, this full of potential, deserves classrooms where kids can actually learn after the sun goes down.
A lit classroom. A safe place to study. A small light that opens up a much bigger future.
That's exactly what El Cantare Foundation is working to bring, one school at a time π―οΈ
